Water Removal

When you have a flood or water damage, the first thing that comes to mind is to remove the water, and now! Speed-Dry specializes in 24 hr water removal. We are ready to respond every day 365 days a year. Nights, days, weekends, or holidays, there are crews and water extraction trucks at Speed-Dry ready to race out to flooded locations.

A lot of things can happen that result in a flooded house or building. There are ruptured pipes, toilet overflows, and burst hot-water heaters. There are storms, hurricanes, and floods. Sometimes a bathtub is left running or a fire sprinkler head lets go. The list goes on, and we at Speed-Dry have probably seen it before and handled it. We’ve even seen an above-ground pool break at the seam and the resulting tidal wave of water broke in the doors to the house and flooded the house. Fortunately, no one was in the pool or the house when this happened. We’ve handled large buildings that involved ten stories of drenched carpet, walls, and ceilings. It involved an extreme amount of desks, furniture, and contents to be organized and manipulated. Speed-Dry personnel have been removing water for over 20 years. Our staff is fast, efficient, experienced, and equipped. We can do your job too, with confidence.

Water removal can be done many different ways depending on the situation. We use truck-mounted extraction machines, portable extraction machines, and deep-water pumps. Below are a few words about our most common methods.

Speed-Dry removes water using truck-mounted extraction machines most of the time. Our trucks carry 600’ of hose to reach far inside buildings and up many levels. Truck-mounted machines offer the most vacuum power to really draw the water out of soaked carpeting. These machines produce an extreme vacuum. Certain attachments will suction down right through the carpet and pad to the underlying sub-floor. This high power extraction is needed for thick carpet or commercial applications like hotels and airports that have glued down pad and carpet. Also, the heavy duty machines we use can handle large volumes of water at a fast rate. And, each truck-mounted machine has two hoses so we can remove water from two areas at the same time per truck. When it’s a big flooded area and it has to be extracted now, Speed-Dry has the equipment.

When it’s a high-rise building, interior store of a shopping mall, airport, secure building, or other location not accessible by a truck mount, Speed-Dry uses special high-power portable extractors to get the job done. These are not the little machines you see at the grocery store. These machines are big, but can be brought up an elevator or wheeled in on their own wheels through secure doorways. All the hoses and tools come with them and they have pump-out systems that can empty into toilets or other sanitary sewer ports. That way, the water removal can go on continuously until all the water is gone. Speed-Dry portables have been used to remove water from large jobs involving thousands of square feet of flooded carpet.

Sometimes, the water is so deep it has to be pumped out first. In the case of a flooded sunken room, basement, elevator shaft, or wine cellar, Speed-Dry will bring out the proper size submersible pump. It is usually a small electric unit that is lowered down into the water with a hose that leads outside or down a sewer. These work great for the above-mentioned examples. Or, the job may require a large diesel powered pump big enough to empty a lake. Some examples needing a large pump would be a large building with a lower level that ends up lower than the water table during the wet season, storm surges, or rising lake levels.  Often, the pumps will be set up to handle the deep water, and while they are pumping we use the extraction machines to remove the water from other areas of the building that are less than a few inches deep.

Speed-Dry water removal is only a phone call away. We are a central Florida local company that will respond from one of our central Florida locations. It’s important because when you call, you talk directly to one of our staff, not a machine and not an answering service. Chances are, we’re very close to your neighborhood.
